WOW!!! Looking around at some of the HV MOT stuff... scary. A guy running a mot, holding the HV wire (looked quite small) and arcingto the core. then the MOT let out the magic smoke.... he dropped the wire and almost hit the camera man...

I remember that one, It was made by one of our members along time ago. Not a glory moment.....I looked for it but can't find it although I did find there, and I'm sure they're worse.

Apparently so! The last time I used a MOT was on a jacobs ladder it was unballasted, took a screwdrive of teh ends to start the arc, pretty mean stuff, ended up melting a CD in 1/2 on the last try.

EVR the video with the loop as the discharge point is nice the way the arc builds up and slides along the edge and what not adds a certain something to the video.
