My latest DRSSTC.
Full bridge of CM400DY-24A.
.24uF Tank Capacitance.
Secondary is 2400 turns of 30AWG on 6" diameter cardboard mailing tube. Double toroid system.
Resonant Frequency 58kHz. My next upgrade is to make larger toroids and try to drop the freq to at least 50kHz.
Primary tuned about 21-22% low.
K=.13
Driver is the UD2.5. OCD set to about 1000A
Typical interruption is between 180-225uS PW @ 100Hz
Best spark so far is 7ft approximately. Lots of adjustments still need to be made and I think I can get longer sparks with some finer tuning. The current signal also shows evidence that it could be tuned slightly lower.

Here is my medium SRSGTC @ low power test.
On the image runs the tesla with 2,3kVA. The output is ~59"
I edit new images on full power in this post when I have them.

Specs:
- Resonat frequency = 222kHz
- Two 8kV NST's in parallel
- Tank-Cap = 62,5nF / 20,8kV (WIMA FKP - 1).
- Gap = 1500 RPM sync-gap @ 200BPS with tungsten rods
- RC filter
- Switchable ballast
- 6.3 "sekondary with 11.8" sphere-top

The fan on the image was only to test and has been removed.

The large, 3600 watt green coil I've just finished. 75KHz Fres with CM300DY-12H IGBTs on a 400v buss. Arcs up to 60-65" long. Building a red twin at the moment!

Hey guys, this is my Dual MOT 5.25" ASRSG coil I've been tinkering on lately. It was originally syncronous, but performance wasnt so great. After some great advice from the folks on the TCML, I converted to asynch with awesome results!

Unballasted dual mot supply. Primaries paralleled in opposing phase, secondaries in series. No filters, but it does have a PFC cap. Running of a large powerstat I found. No specs, but probably 30A@240v. Im running on a 120v@20a circuit, and it pops my breaker after about 30 seconds.
131nf 942c based cap. 7 strings of 8. I did originally have 10 strings of 8 for 188nf, but downsized during troubleshooting and converting from SRSG to ASRSG.
RSG made from a big DC motor I had laying around. 6" rotor made from 3/8" CE Phenolic. 4 flying 1/8" tungsten electrodes. 2 stationary 1/4" tungsten electrodes. Speed is controlled with a small variac running a transformer which output is rectified and smoothed with some lytics I had laying around.
Primary is 3/8" copper tubing.
5.25"x24" secondary, 22awg. Wound on some yellow plastic safety pole I found.
Lower toroid is a 4.5"x18" spun aluminum from eastern voltage. Ended up being way too small so I added....
Upper toroid is a 6"x28" flex duct.

Streamers are about 55", and I expect a little longer with a less leaky topload! I'm currently working with a local metal spinning shop to make me a 6.5"x26" toroid. After the initial die is created, they can create several more for a nominal price. I may end up reselling these!

Hi everyone. Presenting Tesla Coil 1 - 40mm.
This was the first Tesla Coil I built back in 2003.

More details here: Link2

- Max spark length – 27cm with 180W input
- 236 x 40mm Secondary Coil
- 32AWG, ~1156 turns with 99% fill
- 12kVDC 17.625nF MMC with 24 47nF 1.5kV RS Polyproylene capacitors
- Inverse ~18 deg Conical Spiral Primary Coil tapped at turn 5.75 out of about 8.5 turns
- Primary 10cm ID, 24 OD, 3mm copper tubing with 6mm spacing
- Double Topload, 32 x 5cm and 23 x 5.5cm (runs fine with just the small one)
- Copper Pipe Multi-gap fan quenched Spark Gap
- 6kVAC 30mA NST power supply
- Java TC gives 518kHz fres

This was originally built with a 225W (7.5kV 30mA) NST as a power source, but after it gave up, it now runs on a smaller NST. Performance isn't fantastic, but it was a great learning experience. It has been 10 years since, but it still runs great!
