You can try test it !. When you run at 320VDC ( 230VAC) 10 turn primary coil are very good. If you use 3-4 turns on primary coil you will show a exploding mosfets...

just run this of off 220vac half-wave rectified and NO smoothing, went FINE!! yay!!! no explode cheesey

here will be my final target for this SSTC..

since I can ONLY get IRFP450 here (dont wanna buy again those IRFP460, might be fakes), I will go for a VERY SMALL topload or NO topload at all... I dont mind an inch-&-a-half streamer reduction with no topload cheesey MOSFETS run much cooler this way than with topload AND with higher resonant freq of secondary, there is higher switching speed for MOSFET therefore less conduction losses.... besides, IRFP450 is *only* rated at 14A...why push it....

need a bigger heatsink with fan

and will go for fullwave rectified mains + a small smoothing cap (100uF)... I like it better this way.. cheesey

funny thing is , when I plugged it in to 220V mains(no more stepdown but I have fuse) , every BANG from the TC seems to "resonate" with the surrounding objects... including the AC PLUG from which the TC PS is connected, including the AC socket.. Im MORE afraid than ever.. amazed

Robert2 , sure will do 10T with primary....once I find a nice former.. thanks!

Hey Rok,

Thanks...

video of it ran with 220vac (fullwave rectified and smoothed with 100uF)
