I was just finishing installing UD+ and did low power runs with dummy load like you
The current didn't seem to rise so fast so I changed prescaler in firmware for max. 300us on-time, but usually you run a coil at much lower on-times

Cool. What driver did you change from, UD2.7? I think I'll see how the new inductors do tomorrow and then try to run it up at higher power and see how it does.

Swtiching spikes are always much bigger in ratio to the input voltage when you are testing at low voltage, since the IGBT capacitances are the same, but as Vce gets higher and higher, the switching spikes will look acceptable, as they always were, it just looks more dramatic at low voltages

Thanks Mads! I should have new inductors today, so hopefully I can crank it up :)

Mads: question for you: in one of your videos it looks like you are using the OneTesla SD Interrupter. Did you make any changes to the firmware for your coil?

Good news: the SLOT TEN-5-10 worked perfectly for my coil!

Bad news: I blew my bus caps somehow... :(

I panicked too much. After careful testing I found it wasn't the bus caps but the main rectifier.

Some video, still on lower power: Link2

As an aside, "midget" style (10mm) fuse holders make great primary taps for 3/8 copper tubing.

Nice ZCS!

I made similar tap point by soldering those fuse holders directly to 16mm^2 welding cable
Looks a bit ugly after many tunings

Beware that primary will get hot at higher current runs and melt those plastic clips
What did you use as rectifier?
