Isn't skin resistance negligible when a high voltage spark is hitting you?.

When I electrocuted myself, by accident, through being tired, and forgetting basic safety at 3.30am when I was completing my HV TIG welder, and ended up with 240 volts across my chest, from one hand to the other, some 15 years or more ago, and I was stuck to it, I was eventually thrown clear once my finger started to melt. this saved my life, but threw me across the room with sufficient force that, had there not been an armchair behind me, I would have been seriously injured, it was the resistance of my skin that caused my finger to melt wink

Wow, I'm glad you're ok.

Ash, I expected better; fortunately you weren't electrocuted (killed by electricity) but instead received a very serious electric shock.
The word electrocution is often used incorrectly as a synonym for electric shock by the media.

assume your body resistance as 1000 ohm
and 1A current.
and 6 microseconds of exposition.
The power developed into your body could be 1000 watts.
and the energy about 0.006 joules.

I believe no shock, no electrocution.

Ohms law: U=R x I
P = U x I

R is your body resistance.

Use a multimeter and measure your resistanse (R), and do the calculation..

But of course, this is DC.. If it was AC, and the freqency high enough, it would just burn of your bodysuit (skin)..

Do not try this at home! smile
