555 Timer Gets Hot - Coil Gun Related

Strange. Just did some more testing. The chips aren't getting warm any more. The only thing I changed was a pull up on the output - but that was last night and I could have sworn they were still getting warm after I tried that.

Did you add or remove the pullup resistor? What value was it? Set the pots in the middle. Put an LED on the output! (through a 1k-2k resistor to +V).
Is it working now??

I added a 10k pull up on each output of the 555 timer. After doing so the chips don't seem to be getting warm at all. The pots aren't in the middle but they're definitely not shorting.

Try increasing (or desoldering) these 10pf jokes.. as signification says. then try, if the pullups are still needed

I haven't tried anything else because as I said, it's working fine now. I think it must have been the pull up resistors on the 555 timer outputs.
