maybe use 100 watt light bulbs or halogen bulbs? I always wondoered about doing that, the halogens would gook pretty cool.

I tried that on miniature 5 stage multiplier (50Hz and some 2uF caps) and result was explosive.
For 100kV multiplier you would need a tower of bulbs to get suifficient resistance..
