My best coil yet...Mini DRSSTC
Secondary stands 7in tall and is 4in in diameter with 28awg wire
Primary is wound directly over the secondary using 18awg hookup wire, 3 turns
Toroid is 10in long and 4 in diamter, Al dryer ducting
Resonate cap is .1uF3kv
Half-bridge uses a set of 40N60 miniblock IGBTs
Driver is a self resonante driver based around the MAX913 IC
Power in is via 10amp variac with its own breaker , also is voltage doubled using 2 3500uF 450volt capacitors.
System interrupted at 10ms and 18-100 BPS
Max Spark lenght so far is 25in

Here is my portable 3.5kW Demonstration Coil.
At least it was until I built my DRSSTC coils. It is now
basically scrap.

Can output up to five foot arcs no problem.
Use 14.4kV/240mA Potential Transformer
Asychronous Rotary Spark Gap (ARSG) 10" Rotor
Custom Controller System
20" x 5" Toroid

Complete Details can be found here:

Hi All,

Maybee some of the solid state coils that are pictured here could be added to the Solid State Tesla Coil database?

The idea was to have a way to compair diffrent topologies of Solid State Coils and draws up some graphs etc. Could even give us some idea on the best coupling for DRSSTCS etc. Compair OLTCS to DRSSTCS etc. Maybee find a streamer load modle that works to all solid state coils.

You can add a coil on that link. You need to register first but tbis takes 5 mins. You will be sent an email and to activate the account you need to click the link contained in this email.

I am even willing if you give me the info here as a post I will add it to the database.

If there are any problems with the system please let me know.

Go on add your coil

Adam

This is my 4 inch coil.
It uses 4 MOT's (microwave oven transformers) under oil with an angle grinder ARSG (asynchronous rotary spark gap).
Secondary is a 4 1/2 x 24 inch coil with 680 turns of 20 G (0.8 mm) enamelled wire taking up 24 inches on 4 1/2 inch PVC pipe. Coated with several coats of spray on polyurethane sealer. Measured resonant frequency is 297 kHz. Tank cap is a home made 35nF polyethylene/oil capacitor. It gives around 4 ft sparks.

I need more room in my shed (standing room only).

Peter
ps It would be great if lots of people added their coils. Everyone's are welcome even your scrappiest one. If need be I can reduce pics to 475 pixels wide if you email them to me. You will need to give them a different name if they have been used before in 4HV, otherwise your post will not send and you lose it.

Here's my SSTC, secondary is around 1400 turns on a 4" PVC former, winding lenght around 13". Driver is a PLL (=phase locked loop) and two UCC373** chips driving a GDT, and then finally a full-bridge of IRFP460 FETs and MUR860 diodes. Longest spark so far is a bit over 11" (you can actually see it in the picture!), though I'm still having slight problems with reliability.
