Hi, here are pictures showing my first tesla coil.
It's powered by 4 parallel OBITs, 12 leyden jars as the primary cap.

Hi All!

This is my plasma cigarette lighter!

Is powered by a PL509 and runs at 17,5MHz with voltage doubler whitout insulation from mains.
No primary LC circuit required, this circuit is a self tuning tesla magnifier!

Hi All!

This is my last coil:

Status of design: Prototype under development
Maximum streamers lenght: approx 25cm @ 140Vac input
UPDATE: 35cm on 180V by changing the inductor
Maximum spark and arks lenght: N/A ( IGBTs die at first spark! )
Maximum input voltage whithout damages: 140Vac ( my goal is 230Vac! )
Driver: pure sinusoidal, ZVS resonant oscillator based on ROYER circuitry
Mode: fullwawe only (halfwawe and CW modes will be added sooner or later)
UPDATE: others mode tested; fullwawe seems to be the best mode, strangely halfwawe give shorter streamers!
Tank capacitor: 150nF MMC ( MKP-HQ )
Primary coil: 4+4+4+4 turns of 2.5 sqmm PVC insulated cable wound in qudrifilar over a 21cm coilform
Secondary coil: 2720 turns of 0,18mm magnet wire over a 16cm coilform, 49cm winding height.
Resonant frequency: 94KHz
Damaged silicon: 6 IGBTs, 8 zener diodes, 6 ultrafast diodes (yet!)
UPDATE: 8 IGBTs 10 zeners, 7 ultrafast diodes
Overvoltage protection: 2x16 neon bulbs in series for E-C ( due to high frequency this bars become a real vu-meter!!! ) and 2x2x12V 5W zener for B-E

Another pic of my SSTC_royer:

Solid state coils are amazing, but vacuum tubes ones are better!

Here is a picture of my SGTC with an extra vertical helix primary for SSTC mode of operation. The secondary is 4.25" by 22". I'm using Dans PlasmaSonic II board as the driver and my mmc bank (for SGTC) connected in series with the SSTC primary to increase the current. The primary circuit is near resonant and secondary is resonant. I have a 120 to 240 volt stepup transformer feeding the halfwave rectified inputs to the bridge. Right now it blows the mains circuit breaker after 10 seconds of run time.

Shaun

The second photo is a spark picture of it running this configuration. The sparks are two to 2 1/2 feet long. enjoy!

"Mjöllnir" my mini DRSSTC. It has a 5.5" x 13" resonator, 4.5" x 13" toroid, 10 turn primary, 0.05uF 10kV tank capacitor, and full bridge of 40N60 miniblocks. The whole thing is controlled by my Mk2 PLL driver with primary current feedback and runs at 220kHz.

Best spark output so far is just under 3ft. The sparks in the picture are just over 2ft. The driver can supply lots more power but if I turn it up any more it just flashes over between primary and secondary. Working on some mods to try and fix that..

This is my first SGTC. I've previously made an SSTC. The specs are:

4 MOT Stack Power Supply (no oil).
Inductive Ballast (10A limit current draw)
120uF PFC.
Secondary Diameter 110mm (1000 turns of 0.55mm wire).
Asynchronous Rotary Spark Gap.
80nF MMC Tank Capacitor (previously bottle caps).

I'm still experimenting with the tuning, but so far I get good results with 2 turns on the primary. I've literally just started to get the first streamers tonight. More images and info can be found on my website (Link2).

This vacuum tube Tesla coil uses three 811A triodes powered by a small microwave oven transformer.

The secondary was wound with #24 gauge wire on a 6" diameter PVC pipe. You might have noticed that the primary and secondary coils are way oversized for a Tesla coil of this type. I wasn't concerned about portability when I built it.

All the primary components and wiring are enclosed in Plexiglas (safety for the rug rats).

I chose 811A tubes for this project because they are cheep, easy to find, and simple to hook up in a circuit. To see better photos of this coil and a circuit diagram, use this link. Link2
