Well you have my 1.8kw 811a coil beat in spark length (75 inches vs 5 inches) and in plexi (scratched up, half missing, and holes that don't line up regardless of which way you look at them) and in reliability (the mot smokes enough to set of my smoke detector after about 30minutes)... Guess it is time to make a new one Just after I get the server fixed and my room clean and the Nd:YAG obliterator going...

Beautiful as always. Like the overlay too. What amazes me most is that I've never seen any crap in the background in any of your pictures. No dead semis, no jumpers, no miscellaneous burnt objects, no nothin'. And the floor's always swept. How is that possible???

That's cool, I used to have the same "Problem". I call it a problem because I'd just rush around full of nervous energy until I got ill from stress, and then when I got better I'd repeat the process. I think I calmed down a bit as I got older, and I also got into meditation and found that helped a lot.
To go a bit further back on topic, what's the resonant frequency of your coil? Mine is 220kHz. I'm wondering, because you have a .5uF tank cap, and I have a .05, but both our coils seem to be doing OK I tried increasing mine to .1, but that seemed to make it too fierce. It would try to flash over and burn up its secondary even more than usual.

You do have to be careful while crawling in there not to gash yourself on anything.
I even have all my old stuff on the old bench which is now abandonded since I can reach it anymore:
I recently added a new work surface and gaming table so I could move the work closer to the computers:
I also keep the little milling machine are ready to go at a moments notice:
Hopefully, this tips will show you how to "properly" organize things

lol, that reminds me a bit on my desk.. (wich is actually even worse )
Probably this is 'normal' since it seems that lots of people who mess with electricity around here (including me) are such 'messy', and if I 'clean everything up' I'm lost and I can't work or find something until I make mess again. :p

Hm, isn't just 50nF way too small for a DRSSTC of such size..?
I remember Steve Ward stuffing big caps in to decrease tank impedance and peak current.
