I thought it might be a fun idea to have a "What is it?" thread.

Simply post a unusual, interesting or mysterious picture, add a clue or two if you like and then allow other members a chance to guess what it is. Lets keep to one picture at a time though. No photoshopping either.

I'll get it started, the only clue at this point is that it's high voltage related.
Exposure time is 1 second.

Outstanding photo, I want it full size as a background.

Jellyfish!

Seriously though, it's a picture of a nebula with stars (No hearts or horseshoes though)... that you took with a HIGH VOLTAGE CAMERA! (in order to satisfy the clue)

A tangle of corona emitting wire and the spots are just photography artifacts...?

I agree with force lab about the corona wire.
but that intensity dots seems to follow the inverse square law.
[dictance from the wire/UV]
so my guess would be fluroescent dust?

Yes, that is corona, but it's not emitted by a wire.
The spots are not photography artifacts,
nor are they bumps or grounded points on a surface,
or some sort of fluorescent dust. Hint: some variants of the
material that causes those spots are superconductors,
and some also widely used in many components.

Edit: Forgot to mention, the scale is quite small, those dots are only a couple of millimeters in diameter.

That 'corona wire' seems to be the trace of some breakout point moving fast around.

That particles are interesting, they seem like result of some kind of explosion or (?) microwaving.

Yes, correct, the corona is caused by a single breakout point moving around quickly.

Now, what's with those glowing spots?
