This is really nothing special (actually it's quick&dirty), but it's one of the very few times a project of mine actually got out of the "bird's nest" stage tongue
A microwave oven fan standing on a plastic box, which houses a variable speed controller. Made mostly from old/salvaged/scavenged parts.
A handy thing for these really hot days smile

I reused the box from another project so its not in the nicest condition, I have another identical box which is new and I'm keeping it for a singing arc project smile

P.S. the "gunk" inside the box is actually some kind of glue, its a leftover from the previous owner of the box tongue and don't ask about the capacitor, I used it because I had it and it serves as a kind of "fixed point" in the box cheesey (actually it also serves a bit as a PFC cap and maybe to keep possible interference out of the mains (there is a small resistor in series with the mains))

Thanks Lucas! yes it's the "dimmer" circuit, slightly modified:

(some extra parts I used are not shown but are not needed for proper operation of the circuit)
