Hi all - I need 1400v+ rated bridge recifiers for charging my cap bank...I can trade a epoxy coated 14awg single layer spiral coil (self made) or something else - ask and I shall look in my parts bins. Thanks!

Why don't you just buy $8 worth of diodes from mouser and make one yourself? confused

I thought maybe a trade would benefit more than just me wink Also I only found one bridge rectifier at Mouser > 1400v and it's a 1600v @ $27. Surely I can get one cheaper than that...

i think that he meant build your own full bridge out of diodes and it would be 8 for the diodes required

You dont really need high current for bank charging, you can do it simply with few 1N4007s and be happy, so I think it really isn't worth.

I used to know a couple of guys down southern ohio / northern kentucky. One was known as 'Bill the Arcstarter' and Paul plus some guys that experimented with themn that I cant remember. Not sure if anyone here knows of him or not. Anyhow.... I was checking out there Tesla Coil one trip and they showed me a huge array of diodes. It was a full wave bridge rect wich was made out of 100 diodes, like 1n4004s I think. It was a while ago so I could be mistaken, but if you have the patience you could make an MMD array (mulit-mini-diode). Not sure if that term has been coined yet? I had a 10kV bridge rectifier before - it was a one piece unit with 4 terminals. I cant remember where I got it, maybe hosfelt or all-electronics. I used it on my very first ring launchers. Thats when I learned about 'recovery time'. I think I blew it on the first shot. Now I use a combination of 16 diodes (7kV .2A) in series/parralel config and in a small container submerged in mineral oil.
