I've done everything to my existing coil that I can, New toroid, larger primary and trying to tap it and all I can get is a weak 1 inch arc. It looks like i'm going to have to upgrade to a whole new set up...And about the 42L's ( is the best source for 42L's.) Is there anyway that I can make a MMC with something like those for less than $200?

I'd use beer bottles. They're dirt cheap. Your main problem is your secondary. You'd probably get like 20" or more. Then, if you're obsessed with efficiency, build an MMC. But, Mouser has CDE 940's for like 2.80 IIRC. You could probably use those. The 942's are preferred, but we're having trouble getting those. BTW, it should only be like 50 bucks or so for a MMC twice that size rated 30kV.
Oh, make sure your solution in your bottle caps is saturated. The one on your site looks nice though.
