I don't think the tubes you'd get at a music store would be much good for X-rays. The internal arrangement of electrodes in audio tubes is all wrong. All of the pins come out the bottom, so you can't apply much voltage before they arc over. And they're usually expensive, so meh.

I'll go on the hunt tomorrow, I have the day off, then I'll get back to you. If you can find them locally though I remember that they weren't very expensive. most less that 15$
