Yeah, I'm seeing that too.
I remember seeing some really cool sidewalk drawings online somewhere, they were pretty popular pictures. At the right angle, they looked very real, it was amazing. I'm guessing it's the same thing.

They sure are. It's called trompe l'oie -- french for "fool the eye;" all that is a flat drawing with immaculate perspective, viewed from the exact right angle. Two steps to the left, right, for'ard or back, and the illusion dies, but in that spot... wow! I haven't actually seen this artist's work in person, but the technique has been around since the Renaissance; I have had the opportunity to view other works with this degree of realism, and it's even more astounding in life. Since most art before the mid-19th century was obsessed with this degree of illusion, at least in the West, a trip to almost any art gallery should be able to show you a real-life example of this sort of work-- minus the awe that comes from the fact that this guy works quickly, out on the street, which for me is really the most impressive aspect.
