My first experiment would be to determine the IR output of the laser. It would be important for safety and for the reliability of later experiments.

I have laser glasses. How can i find the IR output? The laser is from techlasers so it should have a IR filter. It is only 95 mw though.

Some digital cameras can detect near IR.
Is that what you are looking for?

You can make a blocking filter for visible light using exposed positive film so only the IR goes through, then you can try to detect the IR. I did it with a red laser pointer and it had a weak IR output. If the IR filter is not very good then it should be easy to detect since the IR laser is quite powerful. If it is very good you might need to take a long exposure photograph with a camera or possibly use a photofiode.

Cheaper cameras are better than expensive ones since they don't contain quality IR blocking filters. Cheap webcameras and the cheapest B/W video cameras are usually very sensitive to IR.

I did some testing using the laser glasses and my camera. I also found the IR filter. I should be fine.
