I was asking on the older board for a tiny PCB layout that holds a PIC, its oscillator, regulator, and has easily accessible pinouts... kinda like a basic stamp.
No one had anything for me, so I made my own layout, and then tried my hand at making PCBs at home. I used photoresist boards, and transparencies printed with ink. I made a UV lamp with a $10 fluorescent fixture from home depot, and a UV bulb from an aquarium sterilizer. I guess I'm just trying to share my success, and to point out that despite some claims to the contrary on the internet, inkjet ink works fine when exposing through a transparency.
oh, also note that i laid this board out kinda arbitrarily... the pads for the pins are spaced so that they fit into a large dip socket, but i didn't bother (or remember) to arrange them such that it can be programmed with a standard socket programmer. the traces are also pretty arbitrary.

I also use the inkjet to print PCBs, and I've had a lot of sucess with it recently. I don't know about othr printers, but I use an HP deskjet. Initially, I selected 'Transparency' as the paper type when printing. This is ok, but it prints a bit odd - like with tiny holes in it for some reason - presumably to stop the ink flowing around. A tip I recently discovered is to set the paper type to 'other photo paper' and turn the ink volume/quality up high. It prints much better like that - amazingly crisp.
