I am working on designing an rTMS Link2 system, the folks at Link2 seem to be well intentioned, but no one seems to know where to start and many are afraid to experiment (understandably!)

I think an SCR along with a capacitor bank would work:

TMS Traditional from Link2 (PDF)

the file says "the PW is determined by the resonant period of the capacitor and
the coil."

So, to cut to the chase: I don't have any experience with SCRs/coil guns, only some tesla coil building... and I was wondering if any of you coil gunners had any ideas for parts for this project and how to model the circuit in ltspice. Thanks for any help!

Unless you or someone close to you has a problem with their brain that has no other treatment available
I advise you not to try rTMS. CERTAINLY NOT without a person by your side that can take emergency action.
IF rTMS has such profound effects on the brain it obviously has the potential for serious harm.
Just 'playing' with a variable rate stroboscope can be hazardous - I can't imagine the possibilities here.

Please always have a partner that can 'unplug' you in case of unexpected consequences.
(a 'dead-man's-switch' is no use if a seizure causes you to hold it on, at least you need 'vigilance' added) Link2
Remember, the eyes and brain are two of your organs LEAST able to repair themselves.

There are plenty of threads on the forum and the archives that has most of the details you need. There is some good information in the HvWiki too.

Basically you need to identify the fixed constraints and build from that. In this case I would guess it would be the field strength and the rise time of the field.

Since this is going near someones head you need to take special care that is not mentioned in the coil gun discussions.
