Still thinking about this one but only 7 weeks to go so will have to start making moves. I have a few ideas about using a number of the Tesla effects I have used (plus a new one) to make a 20 foot multicoloured tree.

In fact I have a couple of ideas which are different.

Any one else planning anything for Xmas? or New Year or just for fun?

Not really Christmas related but im going to see what happens if i fire up my 8" coil when it's snowing heavily (actually its snowing right now but my coil is in bits and pieces). Few things needs to be done before that is possible, there are certain places which should be snow(water) protected.

In case if someone doesn't know, at winter northern Finland is covered with snow layer for several months :) Last year we had something like 100cm

Does it have to be a Tesla coil? An interesting idea that just occurred to me is the "Van de Graaf" tree. Basically, you fabricate a Christmas tree with little hair-like needles that just hang there until you "energize" the tree with a Van de Graaf generator. Then they all stand on end smile

I've also often wondered about putting a VTTC into the base of a tree and then hanging little vials of neon and argon, etc., all over the thing. That'd be neato.

Cheers,
Aaron, N7OE

Why a VTTC? Because that's what you have on hand?

Mainly thinking of something that wouldn't involve a lot of streamer production. Could be any strong RF source capable of lighting tubes, really. But yes, that's what's on hand.

Someone should make an audio modulated tesla coil 'choir' to play christmas music. it would sound AWESOME. almost like what i see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZeTyJ0pBUQ but with more of them and a christmas tune played with separate parts. i am still workign on my own modulated sstc, so i definitely should have it done by christmas, and maybe i could play something christmaslike on it...

can't wait to see what your project will look like.

I have strung a 6mm rope between two trees 30m apart. This can be my high support for various things but primarily the Christmas Tesla project.
Still trying to get my head around things in planning but close to getting the 5 point star for the top.

I have strung my camera up there 6.5m (20ft) above the ground and so should be able to take some interesting shots looking directly down on top of a large TC. (I have a long distance IR shutter control)
