I got to know a guy that was really into building tube amps a while ago, but he stopped that hobby and just had a bunch of stuff that he let me take- lots of big capacitors, power resistors, diodes, a transistor checker, tube tester, a bunch of old tubes, some sockets, etc.

Yup, I'm looking forward to starting some tube stuff, I've never done any before, but there are plenty of tubes to start with, and a couple filament transformers, so I think i've got everything i need for a start.

How do you "quit" a hobby like that? For me once I had that meter it'd be like heroin. Excuse me while I wipe the drool of my face.

I don't know what you mean by balck beautys, but there are a lot of caps in the 50-100uf range at ~200-400V, as well as one electrlytic or paper or something at 2500V, its a dualy with .1uf and .2uf.
