Iron toroid? [It works]

Induction to the toroid is a don't care, the fields just don't reach that far.



Ive had aluminum (foil tape) toroids get so hot i didnt want to touch them The secondary coil has a B-field too, Terry.

I made iron toroid as well for my tabletop sgtc :)

That pipe is same stuff they use @ bombardier for exhaust manifolds of Lynx and Skidoo four-stroke engines

Looks really nice, but that's a tabletop coil? :-o how big is it?

BTW, I can see a micro black hole in your picture.

Secondary is about 280mm tall. That is really small coil compared my 8"

That black hole used to be motorcycle license plate :)

Are these bends you speak of really iron? I have seen some similar exhaust bends in steel, but never iron. What is the wall thickness of these iron bends?

Also, did you have much trouble soldering these? I know iron is difficult enough to weld, but solder? Seems like it would be very difficult to get it clean enough for a strong bond. I have no doubt you could silver solder similar steel bends with good results.
