selecting eletrolytic capacitance for TC power supply

does anybody have a rule of thumb for choseing the amount of capacitance for the dublier on a SSTC DRSSTC? I am building a table top DRSSTC and I curently have 4000uf for the neg and 4000uf for the pos cap.

I don't know if there's a rule for choosing them, but any large value will work. 4000uf is more than enough for a tabletop coil. I've used some 2900uf 350V with no trouble.

I usually make sure the DC buss cap stores >10X the bang energy of a single spark event. Many times i end up with 20X. The important thing is to have high quality capacitors here...
