Hi everyone Im finishing up my first coil. Here are the specs: NST- 10.5/30 MMC- 15 cornell dubilier 942s in series secondary is 4.5 inch diameter, 20 inches tall static spark gap
Problem is when I turn it all on the spark gap fires ONCE and then everything is silent. No noise, no sight, nothing. The spark gap is 5 brass balls. If I wire it so that it is essentially a single static spark gap ( 2 brass balls) the spark gap will keep firing but I still get no sparks. Any other arrangement (3 balls, 4 balls or all 5) and it fires once and everything stops. What could be the problem?

You're out of tune.
Lp Cp = Ls Cs. Do some rough calculations to find your ballpark primary inductance, then move your tap connection around to find the longest arc length at lower power levels, then increase the input power and you'll be in tune.
