Primary to secondary winding relation

This questions been plaguing me sine I got the small coil running and now even more with the larger coil project coming along. If the secondary is wound in a counter or anti-clockwise rotation, does the primary have to be wound the same way or could it be wound in a clockwise rotation?

I don't see how this would affect anything. It is the difference in inductance between the secondary and the primary that causes increase in secondary Volts. Winding CC or CCW --- I don't see how that changes anything

My opinion is that it does make some difference,
winding the primary and secondary in the same direction makes it a little less likely to get an arc to primary.

In terms of topload voltage or arc length I think it makes no difference.

hah, maybe by about 1% (just because of the phase relationship between the primary and secondary voltages is changed).

Really, makes no difference which way the coils are wound as to performance. If its a twin coil, you can fix it by swapping the primary connections. If its a SSTC uses feedback then the winding direction matters, but again can be fixed by swapping the primary connections or even inverting something in the logic (its usually better to do it on the primary though, since inverting signals on the control side can often have consequences you might not be aware of).
