I can't think of much use for 10lbs of 38awg wire. $5/lb for copper in general isn't all that bad, but unless you are into winding you own flyback transformers, I cant think of why a 1lb spool wouldn't last you a lifetime.

It is very cheap, and very thin.
IF you buy it you can make your own 'Litz' wire which would be very useful for any high frequency work; Pulse transformers hf invertors Tesla Coil primary if you can't get copper pipe. Coil gun etc. etc.

Yea, I would say it might be good for making like, I don't know, a few hundred SSTC secondaries! I just wound a DRSSTC secondary with 2000 turns of 32awg. My vision is good but its still so tough to see when the windings overlap. Also, the break strength is bound to be only a few hundred grams at most, so one false move and you'll be starting over, which is a major pain when halfway thru a secondary!
Seriously, though, it would be good for a small SSTC, where you need lots of turns for low Fres, but as ... said, one pound would be more than enough.
