I'll resurrect this thread and give it a nudge back on topic. This little chip looks like it could be just the ticket for my glider project.
Madgyver, have you done any more tinkering with this circuit? I'm curious if you have done anything that would give you a good idea of its overall sensitivity and accuracy. The datasheet doesn't give a very good idea of just how small an input it can accurately detect, except to say its approximately 800mv/G, with approximately a 1% error on the 1.5G scale.
Thats promising, I think a couple of those used in tandem could be exactly what I need to generate the pitch, roll, and yaw data for this high altitude glider.
I think a PIC running a 10 bit ADC could give me plenty of resolution to keep the thing going in the intended direction, atleast so long as I can get it level to begin with. I'll just have to program it so I can switch scales in flight, as the roll out of the initial dive could be in excess of 6G.

I haven't done much with the circuit, because the battery holder I bought was crap and broke apart (just by the spring forces). Its a pathetic excuse, but I have been busy too.
Still, before that I have done some little experiments with it, like cranking the sensetivity up and looking what I can measure. The sensor is good enough to meassure accelerations in a car, i.e. if it makes a turn or something like that.
I guess that should cover the sensitivity you would need for your glider.
