Hello everyone!
I'm new here! Well, not that new, I've been on forum for few months but didn't post anything!

Some time ago I tried to make 555 flyback driver, but it just didn't want to work. Tried to make it 4 times i think. Last time I made 555 astable work, and it still works, when I connect it to the speaker it oscillates and i can change frequency and duty cycle with potentiometers but when I connect output to MOSFET(over a inverting transistor for lower duty cycle) it won't work well...Actually it does work with ignition coil but it gives only 0.5cm sparks in which I am not interested in! shades
If any1 knows what is the problem, please tell me!

Now, the ZVS...When I soldered the components together and connected a "power supply", that was actually one 5A diode rectifying 12V transformer secondary I got a 1cm spark.Well, with 6V it was something! Than I put electrolyte after the diode and it did oscilate on higher freq but gave disappointing 0,5cm sparks...Than I wound some more turns on my inductor and got 1cm spark again.
After this I put gretz and eletctrolyte and made a proper power supply (connected other transformers secondary that was 5V so I had around 17V AC that made 29V DC). That gave only 2cm spark. Than i accidentaly pulled a wire from drain of one mosfet to primary and had a lot to see! I could make a 5cm spark to ground and 2-3cm to any wire or ferrite on flyback! But that put a strain on one IRFP250...He could live with that! Soon after, not that one but the other mosfet died. Now i put IRF830 in its place and it works and gives puny 2cm sparks...I need to connect its drain to primary to start the oscilation but when i disconnect other mosfet keeps oscillating 'til i make a spark and then stops. With the old mosfet it didn't stop!
Also i burnt one zener diode! I was planning to use this flyback and ZVS to power small SGTC, I already have wound around 700kHz secondary and made 1.5nF bottle capacitor! If anyone wants I can link a video and few pics of the driver and also a video of 100V 0,47u capacitor from which the smoke comes out when i apply the power...Pretty interesting!
For Firkragg:MladaNada je cheesey
I hope someone knows what my problem is!
Sry if i made some mistakes in writing!

I really have no idea, but did you identify the ground (secondary "return") pin on the flyback's base (if it is a new type) properly? Also rectifying a transformer with just 1 diode is not a very good idea...
As to the 555 driver, just connect the 555's output directly to the gate of your FET. There's no need to lower duty cycle if it's around 50% from the 555.

100% right pin. 5 min ago I hooked up the ZVS on the old AC flyback...Not bad, 3cm arc! Starts on 0,5cm so I will try to power SSTC with it...As soon as i get some time, have a lot of hard learning to do!
