I am running a 16kv pole transformer at 4kv, this is done with a electric welder as ballast and fore extra safety the mains is running though a 240v isolation transformer that came from a huge UPS system.

There are other videos by as well if you view my channel. I am planning on using this to charge a Maxwell cap bank but I haven't had the time to construct it.

That was so incredibly overkill for a Jacobs Ladder! So cool.
Kinda like putting a 454 in a volkswagon, which would also be cool.

What was burning, the video didn't reveal it well.

You've got a pole transformer and that's the best jacobs ladder you could manage! tongue
I'd get some long copper pipe and really set the arcs on. cheesey
How many amps do those things put out anyway?

I was burning some snow, I put each electrode at each end of the wood and lets the snow melt causing the arcing.

After the snow I tried a potato. I will also try the Jacobs ladder with some pipe, never thought of that one and I have about 6 meters of copper pipe around.

How much do those weigh? I saw one down on the ground when they were building my house, I was going to pick it up to see but never got to.

I think they weigh about 150-200lbs, not the sort of thing you casually pick up and tote around suprised I saw a small 5kVA pig at a teslathon a while back that the owner had rebuilt in a smaller tank with carrying handles bolted to the top. I could just lift it by myself, and two people could move it easily.

Might I suggest building something with it. Perhaps an excessively powerful CO2 laser or something fun.
