Hi all, with my recent success with coils up to 13.56MHz and now 9MHz coils, switching "proper power" in the 100+ watt range, I wanted to try my hand at tiny coils!
I'd like to encourage some participation from the gurus here, the target being a scale akin to some of those exhibited in the infamous "World's smallest SSTC" thread (but without the irritating arguments).
Just to seed the thread with a few ideas:
* Small coils work best with a nice groundplane directly underneath them, like a sheet of copper clad, * switching devices can be mounted on the same copper clad, to dissipate heat, * with double-sided clad, you can tie opposing sides to Vcc and Gnd for really neat layouts, * really low gate-capacitance devices like IRF510s can be driven with a small winding around the secondary, * don't forget about nifty single-switching-device topologies like class-E, * gatedrivers like IXDD414s make very handy halfbridges.
