Hay everyone im new to the fourms and electronics and i was just hoping if someone here could help me out on a coilgun setup for a beginner. iv been looking around on the net but i dont really understand the terminology or fuzzy pictures and hard to understand instructions.

I was thinking a simple disposable flash camera setup but i am unable to get a hold of one, well a cheap one the ones for sale around here are around $20 :( so i was thinking of just making the circut. i was hoping someone could link me or post a schematic of a circut with the resisor values and what not that could handle my beginning goals and could be easly upgraded. And im wanting to make a compacitor bank with conector plugs instead of soldering it to the circut any help on choosing the capactors capacity and output would help alot.

Goals:
Im aiming to make a coilgun with an effective range of around 5-7 meters (firing straight without starting to drop) and using small ballbearings around 5mm (slingshot ammo) with a reasonable recharge time,I dont know if this is aiming to high but gotta start somewhere i guess cry

Thanks for the help

Check at walmart (or similar). The photo department will usually give you used disposable cameras if you ask nicely....And there are quite a few good coilgun resources out there on google so I'd look a bit more....

Thats just mean trying to make him read that but honestly your skiping a big step in going over the camera stage and I would recomend it. What kind of electronics suplies can you get? Are we talking cheap radioshack garbage or a real electronics store or all ebay? I am curently converting my coilgun from DC batts to AC 120v source and instaling the necesary transformers. So I might be able to give advice. Click on my profile and email me if you still need advice.
