So my local Science centre has come into possession of a, and I quote "2X.1MFD 80KV" Capacitor, its about a foot or so across (and tall) and about 10 inches deep. Now what kind of transformer would optimize the cap? I'm sort of afraid of what kind of coil would utilize this...

WOW . That's a big cap. I bet it is from a telephone pole or from a small substation. Do you think it is like a pulse xfmr? Could you maybe show a pic.

.1 to .2 uF isnt *that* big if you get into pole pig power levels. Id doubt that its a suitable cap for TC use, but i could be wrong. Some pictures would be needed to figure that out.

It was donated by an xray machine technition. I'll try and get a pic eventually If I go down there...It is quite large and heavy, I'm not sure If I could move it by myself.
