I have read somewere that if the secondary wire on the coil form is spaced apart, this will better the "Q" factor. This is because the capacitance will be less between adjacent turns. Has anyone experimented with this type of tesla coil? I can not find anything googling.

Spacing the windings can increase the "Q" of a coil BUT it's of little value for a TC secondary because once breakout is achieved (arcs) the "Q" drops dramatically due to loading

It will reduce inter winding capacitance, and surely increase unloaded coil Q but will make practically no observable difference with spark, and we also use a topload anyway in most cases.
Spaced windings may just be somewhat useful in high-Fres coils without a topload, but that's mostly it.
