Cool, Chris! Your sword-like streamers at 275kHz are really interesting. I believe Steve Ward and others have observed that, below 300kHz, the sword-like qualities drop off pretty quick. I forget what specific frequencies were tried, though.

I'm always especially amused by those spit-ended sparks!

After trying and failing to find deals on sockets and other accessories for my 3-500 and 3-1000 tubes, I ordered a trio of 572B's from RF parts (together with sockets and plate caps). Should arrive this week. The first of my two pairs of Sangamo transmitting caps arrived yesterday. What beasts!
