I have always needed to generate large volumes and quantities of ions and Corona but as it varies exponentially with voltage, long sharp edges are always needed. But can UV-C light lower the "Corona Threshold" voltage? My 25 Watt bulb just arrived. I dont have my NST available or id try it.

If that's not an official term i just invented it.

You should read up on Wikipedia, is full of shit, but
It makes ions within 300mm ,but it would make sense to use UV to make ion's and high voltage to multiple them.
Burning match's heads makes a lot more ion's, but not sure what your specs are?

You could try to measure the current to your corona wire with and without u.v.
just measuring power consumption of your power supply for corona generation should give a reasonable indication.

I used to repair electronic ballasts for u.v. sterilising equipment used by water companies,
70W is a fairly powerful lamp
- protect your eyes, even against brief exposures, as damage is cumulative.

is there a relation between current flow in Colombs per second and Ion species and quantity ?
