Hello all, this is my first post.
I’ve been experimenting with Tesla Coils for around 2 years now and finally sat down and did the calculations to build one the correct way instead of just throwing one together with salvage I had lying around like I’ve done with my others. I’ve had pretty good success with my new one except for one problem; the secondary has been arcing to itself. I would assume this is an insulation problem so I coated it with spray-on polyeurothane. I’ve tried this fix once already and it fixed it, but didn’t last very long before it started arcing again. If anyone has some tips to fix this problem that would be great!

I had this problem too, used aluminium ducting for the toroid. Turned out the toroid had sharp spots, so to mitigate corona I coated the toroid with some epoxy lacquer, while also putting a breakout point. Try that, it worked for me...
