I´ve been lookin for information on clockwork, or wind-up motors. To my surprise, there is very little info on the web, just a handful of sites with no in-depth info. Even a search for books on amazon almost yield nothing. I am interested in technical details, detailed construction, materials and different types of motors. Any help will be appreciated

The range of thinks I have worked on is from phonographs to 'reelites'.
Our reelites could wind up long lengths of heavy electrical flexible cable associated with ' Peco' cranes . The spring motors had three co axile flat spring cases.

And im sure we all agree the Antikythera mechanism is stunning.

The were very many clockwork fire alarms made, in some cities, one on every block. When the alarm was pulled, the spring rotated the code wheel, tapping out the box number.
And back at the fire hall, another spring wound motor pulled a paper tape through with the box number punched in it.
The fire box spring was rewound by the Fire Captain after the fire was out.
The clockwork mechanisms were in glass.
Who can tell why there is such a box here after being obsolete for 60 years ?
