I want to order a new cap to replace a very old cap, but need help interpreting the value of the old cap.
On the old cap is printed: UHV-3A 402K 20kv TDK2059

402K is the standard marking: the first two digits are the value and the third is the multiplier. The value is in pF, so 40*10^2 = 4000 pF = 4 nF. The K is for the tolerance: ±10% I would take a wild guess that the 20kv is the voltage rating: 20000 volts.
