Being testing some ideas, magnetic and electric field with two metal pipes connected by a plastic pipe,
One thing I would like to test is two plates titanium and aliuium and short on and off between the plates with a electylight in a pipe between the plates wrapped in a coil.
I'm guessing the resistance will be large with the plates difference 0.80volt,
Will the coil make much of a magnetic field using salt water, metal inductors no.
If opening the short makes more voltage difference between the plates, how would you class the effecincy.

Sorry for my English

A voltage is made when the water runs,I'm thinking I need more turns and a bigger iron slug,
I'm using table salt will try with more ion per mole salts,
The volts were 0.03v

Connected a 140kohm resistor and measure the voltage drop and got around 0.16v,poured some more salt in and it increased to 0.18v,
Have steel inside the inductor doesn't really make any difference, just velocity and salt constration.
Using stainless steel for both electrodes, might by some All tube and some plastic pipe and see what 50 turns will do

Was getting bad reading before with the connection.
Got some Ali pipe and ammonium sulphate and used battery clamps on the pipes, 0.10v ocv this time ocv is more volts than with a load, turning off the water makes a bit of voltage kick, steel core doesn't do anything.
The velocity is slow as the water drips out, compared to the smaller coil.

Any one got some ideas to try,or theory as this doesn't match the MHD layout

Put stainless pipe on what was the positive electrode, 0.56v, check the galvanic series chart bit SS has two ranges.

Both electrodes are SS still not much water flow 0.38v,maybe steel does work

Tried doubling up,but the out core doesn't effect the inner one.

Having a conductor inner and outer with no connection between the two increased the ocv to 0.44v, I think cap ace nice has more effect than inductance, there's not much current flowing, about 10nA,
Probably make more sense to have a longer pipe at single layer than shorter and more layers

I'm trying to get more power out of the thing, and was thinking about increasing the capatance with TiO2 to try and make more ion's in the water go to the inside or outside of the pipe.
I want beable to test this until I build the final version, I don't really know what question to ask, thoughts.
The two All plates are floating not connected to anything.

Your work reminds me of a technology used in industry to measure
flow rates electronically for process control by computers.

You may be able to get an unused flow meter to study. The output signal
commonly is 4 - 20 mA Ask at instrument department of a paper mill.

Checked the link, says what the MHD wiki mentios. Interesting about the current. I have wrapped a copper wire around it and connected it to a DC source to make a magnetic but it didn't really change things.
I though a longer cross section cutting the conductor would make more power.

You now have lots of pictures of hosepipe, but it's still unclear exactly what you're trying to *do*.

AFAICS, you are monitoring the voltage drop between two points on the pipe separated by length. In other words, the output potential difference vector is co-linear with the flow vector. This is not a Hall configuration, which requires the magnetic field, the flow, and the output vectors to be normal to each other.

I might be reading the pictures wrongly however. Please post a clear diagram that isolates part of the arrangement to show the relationship between field flow and output. There are similar diagrams in noob books on electric motors and generators showing field, armature motion and output voltage, you know the sort of thing, let's have something of that clarity.

That looks like a very interesting textbook. What's it called?
