XRay Transformer Questions

About a year ago I acquired an XRay transformer and recently decided I want to do something with it in a project. I'm looking for info on what the connections going into the transformer are exactly. They are XS1, XC XS2, MA-, MA+, G, P1, and P2 as in the photo below (XS1 is just out of the frame). I'm fairly certain P1 and P2 are the primary and G is the ground. While I assume XS1 and XS2 are some sort of secondary and MA- and MA+ might be for current measuring, I'm not certain. Any help is appreciated, cheers!

Ma+ Ma- are for a meter this must be in place with protection in case meter goes open circuit.
use a meter to determine what goes where when you short Ma+ to Ma-

Hmmm. I just don't know. But with a ohm meter or a simple multimeter things will get a lot easier. The primary inductance and resistance will be way lower than on the secondary.

Is there a name plate? If so, there's a chance there is a simple wiring diagram on it.
X is generally used for the secondary winding of a transformer... and H is used for the primary when it's a stepdown.
I think there is a good chance that XS1 and XS2 are indeed your secondary windings, and XC should be the center tap of the secondary. If this is a true step up xray transformer, the resistance of the secondary should be so high that it is measurable. In this case, expect the resistance of the secondary to be MUCH higher than the primary. It would be safer to short any other windings while testing resistance because of the possibility of this thing acting like a pulse transformer.

By the way I think these things output DC if I'm not wrong. There should be some big glass diodes setup inside. And lots of oil.

Some x-ray transformers do have diodes, others use the x-ray tube itself as the rectifier so it could go either way
