Hi, anyone ever tried to repair these?
QL-09002-B2401800F charger

Was running a bit hot then finally gave up last night.
No sign of life except when plugged into battery (turns green), when metered shows infinite resistance on all pins.
Figure it has to be an SMPS fail of some sort, IF I could get the swine open!

Thanks, -A

You know how to build a reliable replacement from scratch, Andre wink

You can get a used one via eBay for about £15

smps repair can be as simple as replacing electrolytic capacitors
(especially the start-up / smpsIC power capacitor, look for typically 10 to 220 uF. 16 to 35 V)
(and check the diode that feeds it from the auxiliarry winding)
(and the high value startup resistor(s) from rectified mains to this capacitor)

or it can be a nightmare
... multiple component failures and if you miss one of them you have to start again.

Problem: the connector may be broken so I can't simply build another charger.
I did wonder if one pin went high resistance as to light an LED uses a lot less power.
Its very similar to a kettle plug with the notable exception that the earth pin is oriented 90 degrees from its normal location. Maybe can get one 3D printed in black or brown ABS?
Batteries aren't completely dead (DOD: 40%, 12.7V each) so should be able to simply charge them from 12V wart but it would still be a royal pain to get it apart.

EDIT: Looks like the capacitor leaked, has massive damage on the board.
Any ideas other than building another one, as the "special chip" is optimized for the specific SLAs provided with it and hard to image.
Some nice person sanded off the MOSFET markings.
