Finn, That looks like quite a burn you have there.. You are lucky to be alive!!
Just curious Terry: I would expect a sudden hard short from the topload to ground to shift the frequency of the ringing resonator (as well as alter the decay). Looking at your simulations, I don't see this..(unless I am misinterpreting your data..)
Ouch!!!!! A person I used to work with got "stuck" to an HV supply for about 30 seconds but could not get away from it since he could not move. Fortunately, His body drew enough current to blow the HV supply's fuses saving him!

Ground arcs kill the resonance immediately. See this:
If there is no arc to ground, then the streamer capacitance will detune the secondary somewhat lower. That is why the program like to have the primary tuned lower to match.
Hopefully I will get some time to work on the program more here to get teh new streamer model going.
