EVR has two books, Drsstc : Building The Modern Day Tesla Coil and Drsstc : Building The Modern Day Tesla Coil: miniBrute Reference Design.
For someone who's new to DRSSTCs, which one would be more valuable? I know that Drsstc : Building The Modern Day Tesla Coil was a 1st gen book, are there any issues or obsolete information in it? I don't really want to buy both books if they repeat a lot of information.
Anyone who has bought them, what is your impression?

I never read his books, but it is my impression that you are better off with reading on 4hv.org and web sites of the members here.
You will find that his later designs uses a driver 98% identical to Steve Wards universal driver 1.3.
The most valuable way of learning about DRSSTCs, build them.
Build, explode, improve design, rebuild. Build a bigger one, explode, improve design, rebuild. And so on :)
Ioneoceans did some thorough build and design descriptions on his coils, f.ex.
I am still working on a long stretched project of writing a guide on choosing each part, our approaches to the designs are different, it depends which rare or expensive items you get hold off that you want to use and design around.

I bought his book for the nice pictures to have as a coffee table piece. In terms of raw information (at least in the earlier book) the only information not in the book that isn't freely available are the exact schematics/PCB layouts, but there are plenty of other freely published DRSSTC designs out there.
That said his first book is very nicely done, and does represent a nice collection of coil information. I don't have his second one so I cannot say what it is in.
