Television CRT beam currents?

My brother is about to recycle his final generation big-tube TV set. Something broke, but the screen raster is still present. I forgot to ask about its nominal size, but am guessing about 36 inches.

I want to measure the CRT's anode voltage and current before the machine goes away. Any guesses as to their values?

This is also an opportunity to test a low-cost design for high voltage dummy load resistors.
Maybe the TV's power section can be saved, leaving the CRT inside original enclosure for handling.

20-40 kV, ~1 mA. Many parts can be salvaged from a TV set. It's easy to take out the entire board. The CRT is useless, unless you want to make another TV, a bad oscilloscope, etc.

You can remove the yoke from the tube, and the mainboard should be ok with driving just the high voltage.

Keep in mind, if you short the HV, the supply is likely to fail!

If the raster is present, it should not be too hard to figure out the fault.

For a color TV, the Beam(s) current is cathode(s) current, less the current(s) to all the other elements common to
the cathode. I imagine you know that. I mention it because I just won (ebay) an ancient crt tester.

This one actually has an ultor connector. The beam current can be separated from the cathode current
by switches. Why I wanted it, (?) , is maybe because it is so rare. The other thing about this tester, it that it will cast
a dot on the screen. No other CRT tester can actually prove that a dot can be produced, unless
you can see it.

Actually TV service people didn't care much about this. New kinescopes were easy to get. Heathkit claimed it
was good to see if a tube was good while still in the carton.
