Very Cool Chris! 10KW is really something! I too have been quietly working on my large coil. Its branched into two big projects (PSU and coil) but its comming! Workload has kept me from posting here but I am spending most of my free time on it. Good work on yours and I look forward to seeing what your coil can do when you have it fully tuned.

You call that a lab coat?! It's not even broken in until its stained brown and dingy!

What's with clean lab coats these days *shakes head in disgust*

Sweet coil!

Hopefully someday I'll join the DRSSTC club.

Cool!!!!!

I sent Steve a "load" of CM600s years ago. I hoped they helped out there wink

Not much going on in "my backyard" these days:

I think Alaska is sending us an "ice shelf" for storage... We will use the "water" this summer wink

Cheers,

Terry

I still have *those* IGBTs Terry, but yes, Chris' coil uses the same CM600s.

I have plans for my remaining stock of CM600s, its just a matter of time, and motivating a few people who have space, and some huge coil forms.

Anyway, I think you are right Chris, you need to jack that coil up off the ground so it can really let out some long sparks cheesey .

woww chris, thats a lovely coil cheesey and you are not the only one who is working on a large drsstc. i plan my big drsstc to be finished in summer 2007 when the second ctc-labs teslathon in germany begins. i have 9 of this very large fuji igbt bricks with 400/800 A pulsed, but still need a suitable highside driver for them, 38nF is much to drive wink

I have been working on my big coil too! School has been unbareable the past few months but I am finally getting ready to finish and now have some free time to work on my coils. I started a build diary and will be adding to it every day or so. I am hoping to have first light by Saturday, all circuits are finished and I just need to finish construction. Here is the build diary. I will update it with a bunch of old steps and coil specs eventually. http://www.texaslightning.4hv.org/

Great looking coil Chris, something tells me 11ft is just the begining! smile

Will
