I will be testing 3 versions of EMP using the same power supply (~9kV DC)...

1) power supply itself into a coil [TESTED]

2) power supply with parallel cap [WAITING FOR CAPS TO COME]

3) power supply with series cap [WAITING FOR CAPS TO COME]

the 7kV modules are filled with some sort of hard dark potting compound--any general method to get through it?

I don't think it's possible extract the insides... If you want a tough power supply, get the "400kV" version (it's really 9kV DC).

I started documenting my EMP BOX progress btw...

Do you have any visual output of the high voltage during operation? One thing I found is that you can overcharge these monster capacitors with a slight distraction...do you have a high voltage meter or probe, better yet a comparator or alarm / auto cutoff, rising to 6.5kJ - 10 kJ needs a constant lookout. Thanks for the doc.
