The vast majority of this circuit is that of Adam Munich.
The logic parts are powered by a 12v 3.5a switching power supply. The high power side is split from the input of this, rectified, and ran through a fuse, thus 170vdc. The smoothing cap i used are 2) 220uf 250v, and the bigger caps on the bridge are 1000uf 250v. There are 16 turns of 14ga. stranded copper for the flyback primary. (this is all i could fit) The logic parts are all per Adam circuit with the addition of a power switch, 3 (total) input connections, a power port, and a green led. Currently there are 4 purple leds connected but the port was/ is intended for a fan. The extra wires on the flyback are from a previous projects and are not used here. The transistors i am using are FGA60N65SMD on silpads and monted to a 60x150x25mm heatsink. After 10+ minutes of running the heatsink as well as the flyback do become moderately warm, but still "squeezable" with a bare hand.
Next phase of the project will be building a black polycarbonate enclosure, mounting a small fan, finding an appropriate "amphitheater", and sculpting the "electrode holder" ;)
The project as a whole has many recycled/ scavenged parts and has gone thru several variations. Therefore i am sure there are certain parts that could be better. I have no formal training on this sort of thing as i am a graphic designer by trade. If anyone has any suggestions or questions please let me know! Any constructive criticism is welcome!
