I have over a dozen Patents that were filed by my employer awhile back, and by law had to include the designers endorsement. Note that the original scope of the innovations looked completely different by the time management tied in it's corporate interests, legal transmogrified it, and the examiner shredded 10% of the rest. After I left the company due to it's dubious share structure agreements, I was still forced to continue signing the declarations and assignments up to 12 months later without compensation of any kind.... or face being sued.

My advice is to be very careful what you sign, as in some areas the identical contract can have two distinctly different legal implications. Get your own lawyer in the jurisdiction, as it will be the one investment guaranteed to save you money in the long term. Don't be fooled by big-offices in big-buildings, as they are usually filled with people too busy to do their own legal paperwork... so the success rates are low (<70%) and expensive ($40k+).

As for the designers of like mind theory:
1. Industrial scale espionage will steal anything that may remotely be profitable.
2. If regular people can't steal it, than they may try to buy you out before you destabilize the market.
3. If you can't be bought out... you are about to have a very bad day, and if you are too ignorant to know when to exit you will be re-educated.

We're in the services business now, and make more money than we could ever make playing a fixed game.

I'll still have a respectful laugh at the naïve tenacity of the uninitiated.

Good luck, wink
Rod

Hmm.
Could this explain the problems folks have had patenting new energy sources such as ultra efficient solar cells?
Last time I checked the battery industry had cornered the patents on novel perovskites ensuring that they aren't likely to reach the market for solar cells much before 2020.
In the meantime molten salt reactors are likely to become quite popular as they will happily burn weapons grade plutonium as well as uranium and thorium.

We have a patent, which is an additional device connected series with the mains (or other AC supply) which prevents fault currents flowing when the output is shorted, but there is no series impedance when the network is not in a fault state. The good thing, that the fault current is not able to grow immediately, so if the protection is set just above the nominal current of the consumer and a short circuit is created, there will be no fault current, not even for a milisecond.
This is one similar idea which makes the same effects with a different layout: Patent
