Hi all,
I understand that some 4HV members have patents (Slava and others come to mind).

Maybe we can share our knowledge and thus improve the human condition?

Am looking into doing a search on some fusion related ideas, as there is little to no prior art on the discovery I made
and it could finally allow for >40% yield on a device less than 1m3.

thanks, -A

last time I spoke about patenting an idea in a public place, I saw it done one year after... it was about a bread toaster though, so it was not so useful for improving human condition...

the bread engraved with Michael Jackson with boobs on photonlexicon made me think of a toaster engraver and I had open discussion about it in public places several times, and was planning to patent it for breakfast vendors

then Electrolux Design contest happened and this came out :

Toaster

I don't necessarily think the guy stole an idea which was not even patent pending, but I cannot stop feeling that I missed something... If I recall well there was a $50k + percentage of sales in the game...

I believe in some kind of oosphere though, and the same idea popping out synchronously at different places is not uncommon

Carl Jung "Collective Unconscious" ?

Yeah, I had the same idea too, it seems a lot of legal machinations could be avoided if "first to apply" rather than "first to file" was adopted.
This would also mean any random Joe Blogs could apply for a patent, sell his idea to the highest bidder and walk away rather than the current disaster of a patent system where ideas get lost for decades because of inefficiencies, secrecy acts etc.

I'd be more than happy to sell several ideas to the highest bidder, so anyone can apply now!

I have ideas in several fields, but the problem is always money for prototyping

now that I have a kid and a house, I understand why some told me that I had to make a choice between a life and another... I told them that I could do both, but I'm still trying ;)

I guess I'll have to wait till my son is of age to get a soldering iron in his hands... I did it at 7 so it's not that far, and I'll be there to help starting up to another extend that what I experienced myself

(this is evident that I'm not one to force kids into a hobby...)

that apart, I have ideas for power generation (hydro) which are quite nice and would also work as support pumps, as well as other small electrical appliance improvement which are rather copyable, so I won't disclose them too much in a public place

Not new at all, folks.

First I heard of this was on the BBC in April 2001 - for his final-year project, a design student, Robin Southgate, designed and built an internet-enabled "weather toaster".... 14 years ago, Made quite a stir at the time, i.e. it was genuinely a new idea then...

Speaking of novel toasters, and April, who remembers the
George Foreman brand USB-powered hamburger grills?

My name is on 2 or 3 patents. In one case my employer was out of business by the tim the patent came through. I heard the news from a company offering to sell a framed brass plate etched with the patent front page.

created when I worked for a touch screen company.

We were actively encouraged to file ideas with cash bonuses - I got $500 for this one, as its only at the application stage. A full patent would net the inventor a $5k bonus at that company. Nice to be actually rewarded for your work.

Unlike the last place I worked where your ideas belonged to the company, and all you got was your name on the wall.

I don't have any patents yet but I did two things so far

1. When I was about 6, I made a "car wash" for myself and my friends to drive through out of pipes, and it created small jets of water for us to drive through.

It is now patented by some 35 year old bozo who has "invented" the same thing as I did when I was 6, but it took him years to figure it out, and it's inflatable.

2. When I was 12, I built an LED flashlight with a single green LED. This was years before the super-bright led's came onto the market, and 2 decades before white led's.

Oh well.
