References using old projector lamps which are available somewhat cheaply and the casings can then be sold on for recycling. I have two at home, one is damaged but the tube inside is OK and the other is 100% working.
Might be an option for those working on optical "amateur radio" as they can be run overpowered and output in the >200W range if pulsed once struck.
disclaimer: these contain mercury, other assorted halogens and can be very dangerous if they burst during testing. For safety a robust shielded and cooled enclosure should be used.
